Terry Venables has confirmed that he has had talks with Newcastle about filling in for Kevin Keegan, who left the club recently, but rejected the offer. The position will start as caretaker as nothing can be finalised until the club has been sold by Mike Ashley. As far as fans are concerned his continued ownership of the club is untenable.

Sir Alex Ferguson says that while Manchester City have the cash United still have the appeal. He believes that there is no danger of the young fans switching to the Sky Blue of their rivals.

The FA Chairmen Lord Treismen has fiercely criticised West Ham’s decision to appeal the FA’s arbitration award regarding Carlos Teves. The award, which will not see Sheffield United promoted, could however cost the Hammers 30 million pounds in damages.
