Who cares? In fact it should be part of the CV. I bet if the French coach did not have a series of mistresses he would never get the job. Why do the French have such a simple attitude to the whole matter of infidelity? I did a study of the Tricolours results and found that there is a direct correlation between the coaches bonking and the number of tries scored. (just kidding). PDV, if its true see how many car parks you can do the biblical knowing thing.

i think that every time he as head coach says anything racist he must give R10000.00 to rugby devolpment and SARU must give R10000.00 to a charity because they are his boss and they have set a president of offerning R10000.00 for an issue that is also racist!!!!!

Mrs de Villiers and his kids aren't likely to be just as sanguine about their trouserless-in-public husband and father. Looks like wealth and power have gone straight to Snor's head.

As for his comments about "handing back rugby to the whites", it's pretty clear he's one who loves playing the race card at the first sign of a setback. Pretty petulant and despicable, I'd say?

Traps, I totally agree with you. If people want to get at the coach, let them try to do so using rugby, not blackmail.

This stinks.

How does Chris Hewitt get drawn into this? If memory serves he was always supportive of Peter in his earlier journalism before he joined SARU. Now he appears to be on the verge of being fired, having already been demoted. Allegedly he showed "language bias". Jeez, who's crying racism now?

Why do some newspapers and websites keep mentioning one player without ever making an actual allegation about how he is involved in this?

Which writer in the free press is going to tell the whole story and expose all the self-interested charlatans? You guys work for M&G for goodness' sake, investigate and publish.

Trapido,

I wish to differ with you on the matter of Peter De Villiers's suggestion that certain sections of the disgruntled pale-skinned populace are unhappy with him, by virtue of being a dark-skinned coach of the Springboks. As much as we encourage South Africans to speak out if they feel they are segregated by employment policies of the country (for example, AA, BEE, BBBEE, etc.), by virtue of the paleness of their skin colour, it surely is De Villiers's right to express his disgust if he feels certain elements within SARFU are using the complexion of his skin as a delegimating tool insofar as coaching the Springboks is concerned.

Equally, it is within the rights of Jongi Nokwe to express his disappointments or frustration, should he feel so, over the crowds' use of the K-word each time he scores a try; thus, Jongi is as free to express outrage over the fact some are not happy with having him, as a dark-skinned player, in the Springbok game.

As an aside, I found it bizzare that one Afrikaans commentator on telly kept on pronouncing Jongi's name as /'Yhongi'/ [as in 'Jan' van Riebieck = Afrikaans pronunciation of 'J'], while Butch James or John Smit's names were pronounced with the letters 'J' (with no attempt to convert these to the Afrikaans language). Was this by fault or design, I wondered?
This goes to the heart of the resistance (by some within the pale-skinned community) to recognising that the players of the Springbok team need not necessarily come from the Afrikaans community. For, a genuinely committed TV or radio commentator - when first "acquainted" with the firstly capped Springbok player - should enquire about the manner in which the name of that player is correctly and appropriately vocalized.
Should this grotesque pronunciation of Jongi's name not be due to malice or the above-cited resistance on the part of the commentator in question, one is left with no choice but to reluctantly embrace the unpalatable characterization and depiction of the commentator in question as part of the bigger Afrikaans-speaking folk who (at least as far as their English-speaking counterparts are concerned) are regarded a breed of lesser intellect - as bizarre as this may itself sound.

Hear hear.

The best thing PdV is put his head down and work harder. It is said you can always identify a pioneer by the arrows in his back.

That is what PdV needs to accept, he's made history, and his every success/failure will be magnified tenfold,he has to man up to the task like he did earlier this season.
