My beloved Lions. When when when when when will we ever learn how to play rugby, build a new effing stadium outside the city centre and actually start KEEPING our good players instead of allowing them to be siphoned off to the other unions who are now nothing but “old boys”. (IE the Sharks AKA “Free State old-boys”). Western province fast becoming “Lions old boys”. How many players of Bok-quality have the Lions now lost in the last 4 years or so? I believe an entire bloody green and gold team – if you are cynical enough. Team-bias notwithstanding: my player of the year is Jaque Fourie… that man knows how to play a game, despite his poepol driving skills, cutting me off in his beemer in traffic and driving like a blue-light politician. On second thoughts, Province can have him. “Shopaholics of the Year”…

My beloved Sharks again flattered to decieve while I hope Ruan Pienaar fires in 2010 - I still think he is a gifted player and just needs game time in a settled, his preferred position (scrumhalf in my opinion). Unfortunately that would mean sitting on the bench for the Boks, and possibly the Sharks too. It doesnt help that he has been usurped first at scrumie for the Sharks by an inform Rory Kockott, and then by the arrival of the mercurial Argentinian at flyhalf... his confidence looks to be shot, so lets hope he gets a good shrink for christmas, or a flatty on the side of his head from his old man...
