Comeback of the Year:
Adi Jacobs made his comeback 3 seasons ago with blistering performances for the (beloved) Sharks. For me he's been the outstanding centre since. Work-ethic second to none.
But OK on National Level I suppose it's a comeback.

Provincial comeback of the year:
Stephan Terblanche, his experience and decision-making as well as pace (the okes not slow hey) fitness and great kicking ability certainly helped the Sharks through some of their tougher games. Long may he play in Black, White and Dynamite!

Best Newcomer (Test rugby)
BEEEEEAAASSSSST!!!!!!!!!! There can be only one!
Ryan Kankowski deserves a mention (and a start) here too.

Best Newcomer (Domestic)
Jean Deysel. Check.

Stepping up to the Plate Award
Ruan Pienaar. Check. Check. Check out the skills on that okie!

What the F! Award.
So many contenders...
"The brouhaha over the Bok emblem: How long will it remain a political dick swinging tool?" As long as the likes of Messrs Stofile and Kompela are involved thats for certain. Lets get a woman to run SARU. heh heh heh.

Luke Watson: I didn’t like the guy because he is one of those "great after the whistle" players - you know the guy who runs through everyone for about 3/4 seconds after the refs blown and every-one else has stopped playing. We had a word for that at school...However, his recent forays into whether or not he is or isn't available (who cares) have confirmed him as my Mampara of the year. The only capped Bok never to have been initiated by his team-mates. Chop.
Dude..."Still our best fetcher mind" When Jake White asked the S14 coaches (besides the Stormers) if they would start him they unanimously said no. Nuff said. Baywatch va Heerden and Jaques Botes are players steaks ahead and they didn't cut the mustard.

Moment of the Year
RJ just keeps getting better and admittedly I didn't think he was good enough at first. I certainly don't mind being proven wrong like that! Viva Ricky J! Viva Amabokkebokke!

Low of the Year
The Boks going into Tri-Nations games with no gameplan other than to run it and spread it. Ya whatever

Quote of the Year
"Rome wasn't built in a day"

Response of the Year
"But you are the World Champions...Rome has already been built."

Big-up of the year:
The Boks reverting to their pick and drive and spread once the hard yards are won style rugby when our vastly experienced coaches "tactic" started making as much sense as Chinese Algebra.

As for Adi being the 'most contentious selection' don't insult the man... he was already capped at Bok level, Fourie was injured with Steyn seen as a back-up for 10/12/15...

By far the most contentious selections were that of Mujati, Schalk Brits and Luke Watson... all three failing miserably!

'Captain Ignorant' more like it!

"Still our best fetcher mind."

You had to go on ruin your piece with that...

You're clearly not a fan of loose-forward play... 'fetching' has been Watson's biggest downfall (on the field)... he never stepped up to the plate and attempted to play the traditional 'fetching' role... shying from the rough stuff and point of break-down... preferring to join his fellow Stormer's soft-guy Bekker on the wing and in the backline...

No my friend... Watson was never more than a utility-link-8 and it showed... methinks it's not to late to retract that garbage...

With all due respect of course...

Adi Jacobs has been my Man-of-series this EOYT... but to suggest that he 'made Etienne Botha look good...' futher shows up your ignorance for the game...

The two were inseparable and a true dynamic dynamo in the sense of the word, each with a superb understanding of the game... albeit it only sub par CC rugby...

Good rugby/sport column, in the spirit of sports discussion can't agree that Watson is our best fetcher. Players ahead of him include Brussou, Stegman (Bulls) Botes (Sharks) and the Lions captain, just lost his name at this moment. My opinion is based on ability NOW nothing to do with anyone being a good or bad bloke.

And you are wrong re. Adi (agree with everything else you say of him) making Etienne Botha look good, they both supported each other shining for the Valke and Strauli picked Adi for Boks, Botha only became known when he moved to the Bulls.

No one of my Sharks fan club regarding Adi as a poncy impact player, he was a key member of the Sharks 22 and Wayland Murray at that point (2007) was the starting outside centre, who performed well plus got a Bok call up.
