Ah, Neville B…thanks for further elucidating the comparison between England and SA! They have both gone downhill since 96! And again we see that you DO NOT READ! Tisk tisk! I did in fact say that Gazza cried in WC ’90 did I not? Hhmm…

U also seem to miss the fact that Siya is a die hard Pirates fan….that happens to be an SA team! Hhmm…U only see what you wanna c Neville B!

Just for reference, who do you support? Derby County? Cause im sure you get some solace in being the worst Premiership team ever, and in some way that gives you some credibility! Just because I have enjoyed entertaining, attack soccer…with some fools only knowing the team from ’99 does not mean that I picked “GLORY GLORY” out the hat!

Neville B, just deal with the fact that you are emotional and can not see this debate for what it is…Those who are proud and lack humility fall…Tisk tisk!

Yes. It's hilarious.

Anyone else find it hilarious that there's a commentator on a national newspaper who can't spell, can't punctuate, finds humour in outdated national stereotypes and writes about a subject he doesn't really understand?

I certainly do.

Oh dear. Where to start?

'Football' is still 'football' in England, as it always has been. The last time England got to a semi-final was Euro '96. Gascoigne did not cry at the Euros, it was at the Italia '90 World Cup in the semi-final against Italy.

My point was that those that seem so happy England aren't in Austria and Switzerland are either resident in England (why? if you dislike England so much, why?) or come from a country obsessed with the Premier League (sorry, 'EPL', as it's called in South Africa.) No-one's disputing that England aren't a great team at the moment, Big Boss. But Manchester United, the glory glory team you chose at random out of the five or six most famous clubs in England, are English, made famous by the passion of generations of English fans.

If you people could get behind your own teams the way you get behind ours then maybe B-2 might be able beat... let's say... Angola one day.

Pip pip. Good luck with your national 'soccer' team.

The joys of emotional and ill informed closed off individuals...

First of all it seems that my point has been clearly articulated by those who READ! I do NOT dislike the England soccer team, contrary to your lack of reading and grasp of merely comparisons, I rather like the team! It’s just unfortunate that you fools seem so closed minded and so media-manipulated that your hearts have taken over your minds like the fairer sex!

Point one: England has great football players. Not a great team! You can not dispute the fact as I used a very easy logic to win this battle…it’s called, well LOGIC! Since 66 ENGLAND HAVE FAILED TO WIN A MAJOR TROPHY! The media hypes up the players and more so the team and you idiots fall for it! I never said that SA is in the same league as England you illiterate buffoons! I even had the eloquence to add in some easy and clear grammatical foresight for those I assumed would miss the point! They’re called BRACKETS (hence I compared HOLLAND AND SPAIN). As for South Africa I compared them to Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia. Seems I was not clear enough for you! All in all, point is until England at least get to a semi final…wait for it BRACKETS (I stand to be proven wrong, but the last time they were was in 1990 when Gazza burst into tears), don’t compare yourself to world champions or at least…semi-finalists! Anywho….

Point 2: Since when was there a universal mind frame for all United supporters! You sound like a freaking conformist from the era where the USSR actually existed! What baffles me more is in this day and age of globalization and mass proliferation of ideologies and culture; you have the audacity to tell me that what I’m saying is not in line with what you believe! If I had the energy I’d tell you where to stick it! But because I assume that you are probably a labourer in the boroughs of I-have-never-been-off-this-island-let-alone-farm-borough, my well travelled and multicultural self won’t waste time with you! Question, when was the last time you were at a ManYoo game in SA, or the Middle East or even Asia? Well I know I have been to all these, as well as a few in London and in the hearty Manchester and I know I have heard “ManYoo till I die\Red Devil to death” etc many-a-time! Get off your Island and visit somewhere. Acronyms, abbreviations etc…LEARN TO USE THEM! EPL, UCL, UEFA CUP, MAN U, POOL, ARSE…its about making things a whole lot easier…pity you didn’t pick that up!

Point 3 (most important of all): LEARN TO READ! I really hope that you as avid sports fans do not get into debates with rival fans, ESP.… (Sorry ESPECIALLY) if you are Man U fans, cause you will make us ALL look like idiots! Really now! Not that I need to explain myself, but for that fool who talks about club football from 150 yrs ago cant tell me anything about Man U…well coz Newton Heath L&YR F.C. was only est (sorry…ESTABLISHED) in 1878. Regardless, your idiocy presides u….u don’t know me, or how old I am and you think because I have a voice of United I was only there since 99! Your balls buddy! Guess if you support ‘Pool you have to be over 40 and bolding, because that’s when ‘soccer’ was football! Not that it matters, but I started my yearly pilgrimage to May success in ’91…

Final Point 4: Don’t let your emotions get the better of you when it comes to an objective sporting debate! Take a step back and look at the point, not the outcome, because no one cares about your feelings and even Dr. Phil would tell you to man up! (Excuse the pun!) Hence, all those idiots that missed the point and cried about Pirates and Angola being so kak, think about why England is NOT IN EURO 08…lets enjoy the big games tonight and for those w**kers who know only one cheer, here it is GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

Heh.

And if you can learn something from this, no-one in England calls the Premier League the 'EPL', and no-one ever says 'Red Devils for life' or 'Scousers for life'.

Ha ha ha ha ha.....Neillie B, you are hilarious mate/lass. You gonna have a spo' of tea with that mate/lass.....

If you learn anything here today, please I implore you, learn this.....that the EPL is a good league is not because of the english influence......

At the risk of sounding repetitive, you need only look at the players that take to the park when the top 4 play to understand that the english are actually rather shait at this whole football thing.....you know what Im tired of typing, the "Big Boss" quite eloquently told who what it is about......with that said, Im off to have a spo' of tea.

Up the Bucs/Scousers for life!

You're a 'Red Devil to death'? Have you ever even been to Manchester? Why are you a 'Red Devil to death' instead of a Super Sport to death, or a Pirate to death, or a Bloemfontein Celtic to death? How long have you been a 'Red Devil to death'?

And since when has 150 years of history of English club football suddenly counted for nothing? Suddenly now that Manchester United have been glamorous again for the past ten years? You picked Manchester United at random, because you could, and as little as you like it, Manchester United are an English team, based in England, as they have been since the club was founded.

If you're so happy England aren't at the Euros, why do you support an English team? Other than because they're quite glamorous and you don't know anything about the history of Newcastle, Spurs or Arsenal, of course., and Man U have Ronaldo and Rooney.

'Red Devil to death'. Support your own teams and your own nation rather than crowing about how England didn't make it.

If it were England v. South Africa you'd be destroyed. How do I know? Because England are better than Angola and Senegal.

Hmmm...it's evident that there are some "touched" English fans out there, but what I think they fail to recognise are the basic comparisons between the two teams...SA and England. If you would like, throw Spain and Holland into it, you know, be a little more controversial...

Point is England (like SA) make so much noise about their national team, but have no reason to do so. They have not performed at an international level for years. I mean England is still raving over 1966 (WC) and SA over 1996 (AFCON). Since then neither team has managed to live up to the hype!

Let’s look at SA, since ‘96; SA has just been getting worse. From winners, to semis' to quarters...finally to such losers they didn't score a goal and had 1 shot on target! COME ON! I still hear guys (even commentators in TV) talk about SA being AFRICAN POWER-HOUSES! Come on, dropped like 40 places since 96 and we're still sucking our own cojones! Get a reality check, do the basics and get some humility. Get a NO-LOSING STREAK (don't even have to win, just draw) of more than 5games and we'll chat!

England (like Spain and Holland) is sadly VERY SIMILAR...in relation. I mean the last world cup (like all others) was meant to be the MOST TALENTED team of ever! I mean they had the likes of Rooney, Lamps, Becks, Stevie G and Rio, many people still say they could "walk into" the Brazilian team! I’m sure they could, after they WIN SOMETHING! Or at least get to the final! Uh yeah, England has GREAT PLAYERS ON PAPER...but they are NOT A GOOD team! The records speak for iself. Like SA, the English press and supporters need to gain some humility, go back to basics and "think about their lives". Like Rio, more so Maclaren said yesterday… They WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH to go the competition. I mean with such great players, how can you be losing to N.Ireland and drawing to Andorra! What the hell is an Andorra anyways...Is it like a Malta or Moldova?! Anyways...as for the clubs...don't be silly, cause those are international relations and more so great coaches and history! I mean the BIG 4 constitute less than 40% English players, so leave it out! This is national, not club! I am a Red Devil to Death, but I know....if they had to play England (with Rooney clones on both sides), United WOULD triumph! If England doesn’t perform in 2010, they’re more than chockers. They’re just kak! (Spain and Holland…the same…big hype, low turn out…well Euro could change this…pity for England, they can’t)

All in all, I think C-ya has merely managed seduced you into showing where your objectivity levels lay. Seems for those who opposed spoke more from heart than from the head! No one cares if you support China, Malta, England or SA! Just make sure that if you are rave about your team, you do it relative to those in your league! England is no Brazil, France, Italy, Argentina or Portugal! SA is no Ghana, Cameroon, Egypt or Tunisia (Nigeria are big name chockers as well)…

Hmmm…it’s evident that there are some “touched” English fans out there, but what I think they fail to recognise are the basic comparisons between the two teams…SA and England. If you would like, throw Spain and Holland into it, you know, be a little more controversial…
