On the other hand, either someone at Sundowns did (or did not) forge Jose Torealba's signature on that contract at Chloorkop.

Which is it?

Great article Serumo. I have to say about last years Charity spectacular its not suprising that Sundowns were treated the way they were. Not that I'm a Sundowns supporter but; put your hands up those of you who don't find it strange that MTN sponsored Sundowns had to choose to either play in MTN sponsored CAF Champions League or Telkom(50% owner of Vodacom) Charity spectacular. While there was an excuse that the tournament could not be reschuled to the preceeding week becuase Vodacom sponsored Kaizer chiefs and Orlando Pirates had to play Man United in the Vodacom Challenge.

To make matters worse the very same MTN sponsored Sundows got the most votes in the Telkom Charity Spectacular.

I can't wait for the FNB stadium to be opened, so that some ABSA premierships games can be played there buy some teams sponsored by Standard Bank.

A very well written post Setumo. It just shows the kind of jealousy my beloved Sundowns have to go through. I think the one thing that irks them more is to find that its the most successful team in the PSL Era. Maybe they thought it will be dominated by the big two and it was never to be.

To rub salt further into their wounds they had to vote it team of the Century & of the decade at the beginning of the millenium. So, who would blame them for trying under hand tactics?

Now that it has been confirmed that Katlego Mphela will be sidelined for six weeks, Sundowns are owed an apology and the SAFA doctor who certified the striker fit enough to travel to London should be fired! We all know that’s not going to happen.

Setumo has done a decent job of compiling evidence to support his argument that there is a growing vendetta against, if not Sundowns, then their owner. On the surface it is a persuasive conspiracy theory.

Claiming phantom interest from ‘other clubs’ (read Sundowns) is a well-known tactic used by agents in a bid to secure their clients improved contracts at their current clubs. On the other hand though, 'tapping up' is a reality in football and Sundowns are not above that sort of practice. The lack of evidence to back up allegations against Sundowns does not mean the accused is not guilty.

Sundowns have become masters at gazumping their rivals in the transfer market. Peter Ndlovu and Collins Mbesuma were talking to other clubs until Sundowns intervened and snapped them up from under their rivals’ noses. Of course, you can’t blame Sundowns for that, but naturally it inspires resentment and jealousy.

An injured player can still be called up and have his injury assesd by the national teams medical staff. It is their prerogative.

as for the Charity Cup, the PSL cannot be expected to re-arrange an entire tourney for one team?

As for emntioning Pirates.Do not go there.

Remember Rowen Fernandez being offered R10 million by Sundowns? The story died down after Chiefs were able to sell him to some German team.

I call it jealousy.

Team one wants to offer their player slave wages in their new contract. They know that Sundowns can offer the player rich man's wages at the stroke of a pen. When the player starts to assert himself in the negotiations, a hullabaloo is created, involving a rumour about Sundowns and their money etc. Said player signs under pressure to show that the rumour is not true and pledge allegiance to the club.

You are still going to see more of it.

If Patrice Motsepe was a petty individual, he would be spending his days in court suing newspapers and football teams. Some of them would have closed down because he would have sued them several times over.
