Read this article because you quoted McNulty in the first paragraph. Have always thought The Wire could teach us a lot about politics, not only in the US but in Africa too. Not even sure what SARU is. But good writing!

The most successful coaches in South Africa who have got the "buy-in" from most of the public have been those that have been able to clearly explain to a passionate public what they are trying to achive. No mumbling and bumbling of Carel du Plessis, Harry Viljoen, Rudolph Strauli and Andre Maakgraaf. Mallet, Christie, McIntosh and White have all been able to be clear about what they wanted to do and what players they needed to do it. When you don't have faith in the coach you end up not supporting the team. All three major candidates, Meyer, Mallett and Smal have good coaching pedigree, but they need to be clear and confident in their style and plan.....not just with the players, but with the press and the rugby following public too. If they are, they'll be given time to achieve their goals. Also, International Rugby is about small percentages, not the 40% that PDiv said he would make the world champions better......when you talk drivel, you get castigated by everyone and then everone just can't wait to prove you wrong>

I hope it is not Ludeke. He is all muscle and no brain. We need to move the ball about. The dominate and penetrate is old hat now. Erasmus and Coetzee did not do much with the talent at the Stormers so why shoudl they be any better with the Boks. Appoint John Plumtree and be done with it.
