Well well, the Lions showed they certainly have some bite by beating WP and forcing the Capetonains to face the Blue Bulls. It's going to be an awesome match down at Newlands.

And yes, Rhodes = good times. :)

Cheers for the feedback Adam, nice to have an interactive blogger...
Commiserations on being a Lions fan, where did it all go wrong…it wasn’t all that long ago that the Vaalies ruled the Currie Cup and would have been thankful to have all its Boks back? To be honest, I thought the Lions played really well against the Sharks, and it wasn’t a case of the Sharks playing badly as the media reported (my opinion) I think its aa case of when not if that the Lions will click again soon. The talent is there and as Al Pacino once said: "It’s a matter of inches" or something along those lines. After all the Lions cant be Shiite forever? Or can they LOL.
The Sharks appear to be running out of steam again ala Super 14, but will alwaysa be tough to beat at home. Holding thumbs that it isn’t going to be Free State to be honest, as they seem to have timed their season to perfection and that little menace with pop-eye like forearms, you know the one…can win a game on his own.
Guess I did have more to say…. albeit rather tenuous LOL
PS I am an ex rHodant...good times...

Thanks for the comment Banana.
True, mind you, WP faced a Sharks team lacking its Springboks. It will be interesting to see how the Sharks and Bulls, which has the vast bulk of Bokke, fair against the settled sides of the Cheetahs and WP (as you can see, I don't think Griquas are going to make it...which is a shame. They've done very well this season.)
Just so you know, I'm a Lions supporter so no bias here. I know my team is bit shite :)

I think its horses for courses....The Sharks would probably not like to face the Cheetahs given their recent history...while the Sharks would probably fancy their chances against the Bulls having beaten them more times than they have lost against them in recent seasons.
Similarly, province would be confident of beating any of the Sharks (twice already this season) the Cheetahs and Bulls, while the Bulls would say they could beat anyone at home...but in all probability they woont be playing at home come semi final time...
Thats all I have to say about that, unless I can think of anything else ;-)

Thanks for the comment Joe.

Ja, the Blue Bulls really do have some fantastic depth, being able to keep them in touch till the big guns return from Bok duty. They won't be at full strength this weekend, but come the semis they will be keen to move up a gear.

It's been a good competition, and can't wait for the knock-outs to begin. Let's hope the Currie Cup continnues to be a fine competition after the coming of Super 15 rugby.

The Bulls are the best of the bunch, all teams dont want to play them. Wht they did over the past 7-8 weeks is impressive. They didnt have close to 10 first team players but they still managed to mix it with the big boys up there. Thats what we would call a real strength in-depth. Its really encouraging for the senior team that reserve players can give the other teams a run for their money.
